Ampex Tape Recorders
The Ampex Electric and Manufacturing Company was established in 1944 in San Carlos, California and the company's first tape recorder, the Ampex Model 200, revolutionized the radio and recording industries.
Bing Crosby, one of the first recording stars to see the potential of the new technology, invested heavily in Ampex, still a small company at that time, and in 1948 the first tape delayed radio broadcast of the Bing Crosby Show was aired by the ABC network.
Ampex Reel to Reel analogue recorders are still very much sought after today.
